Lease Solutions

If you’re leasing a car, truck, or SUV from Freehold Buick GMC, we hope you’re enjoying your vehicle to the fullest. We also encourage you to start thinking about what you’d like to do once your lease term is up. That way we can work with you to find the best solution. These tips will help you understand what happens when a lease ends — and prepare for your next steps so you can stay behind the wheel of a vehicle that you love!

Be aware of your lease expiration date

If your lease just began, there’s no need to worry just yet. But if you’ve had your leased vehicle for a while, make sure you know when you’ll need to turn it in. If you’re down to 12 months or so, it’s time to plan your next moves. That’s an easy process if you already know the next vehicle you want! If you’re thinking about switching to a different model, now is the time to do your research and schedule test drives for the vehicles you’re considering. If you have any questions about when your lease will be up, or about test-driving your next vehicle, don’t hesitate to contact our team at Freehold Buick GMC.

Pre-order your next lease early

When your lease ends, the simplest thing to do is to transition seamlessly into the newest version of the Buick or GMC vehicle you’re currently driving — or into the upgraded model you’ve had your eye on. Unfortunately, right now, it’s not always that easy. Low inventories mean that if you walk into our dealership right before your lease is up, you might not be able to get the exact vehicle you want.

Luckily, we have a solution to help you avoid this situation! At least 3 months before your lease ends (or even sooner), get in touch with Freehold Buick GMC and let us know which vehicle you’d like to lease next. That gives us time to pre-order it and have it ready for you once your current lease is up! Pre-ordering also allows you to select the exact model, trim, paint color, optional features, and accessories that you want for your next ride.

Get your vehicle ready to turn in

Now that you’ve pre-ordered your next vehicle to lease, it’s time to get your current vehicle ready to turn in. Make sure you’re current on the maintenance schedule. You’ll also want to clean your vehicle inside and out and make sure no original equipment or accessories have gone missing. And make sure to inspect your vehicle for potential damage that goes beyond regular wear and tear — depending on the lease terms, you may be responsible for having these issues fixed. Finally, right before you turn the vehicle in, make sure you erase any personal data from the infotainment system and remove all trash and personal belongings from the vehicle.

Know your other lease-end options

Here at Freehold Buick GMC, our No. 1 goal is to get you behind the wheel of another leased vehicle. However, we understand that you may not be able to do that in every scenario. If your lease is near its end and leasing another vehicle doesn’t match your needs or your current situation, here are some other options we offer.

Extend your current lease: In some cases, we may be able to extend the lease on your current vehicle so you can continue driving it.
Buy out your lease: If you’re interested in owning the vehicle you’re currently leasing, you may be able to buy out the lease and transition to ownership.
Lease or buy a different vehicle: Even if you can’t get the vehicle you want, other models will likely be available, and we’d be happy to help you lease or finance the one that works for you.
